The Halifax Resolves Chapter NC Sons of the American Revolution recently conducted its Americanism Brochure contest with middle school Social Studies students.  Students were given a choice of five topics: The Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Federalist Papers.  The content of the brochure had to be in support of or against the subject and why that position was taken.  Chaloner MS 8^th grade student Jacey Carlisle won the chapter level contest with a brochure in support of the Bill of Rights.  In recognition of her win, she received a winner’s certificate and a check for $100.00.  Her teacher, Mr. James Rook, received a check for $50.00 and a Certificate of Appreciation.  Jacey’s entry has been sent forward to the NC SAR contest for consideration.
