On Friday, 20 September 2019, the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the North Carolina History Center, at the Tryon Palace in New Bern, sponsored a day of presentations made by Senior Associate Justice Paul Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court. The subject of Justice Newby’s presentation was “Recovering History: The Undercover Sting Operation that Recovered North Carolina’s Copy of the U.S. Bill of Rights”. The event was in celebration of Constitution Week. Justice Newby made his presentation throughout the day, to the students and faculty of the Epiphany School of Global Studies in New Bern, the New Bern High School, and the Pamlico County High School. The general public also had the opportunity of hearing his presentation that evening, in the Cullman Performance Center, at the NC History Center in New Bern. It was a full day for Justice Newby, but a day that was very much appreciated by everyone who attended his presentations.
