On Sunday afternoon of April 15th, Troop 97 held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Bennett Houston at the Beech Grove United Methodist Church in New Bern. During the ceremony, Rear Admiral Jay DeLoach, US Navy (Retired) and VP of the New Bern Chapter of the NC Sons of the American Revolution, spoke to the troop and parents about making Eagle Scout in his youth and the impact it had on his life. Rear Admiral DeLoach then presented the SAR Eagle Scout Recognition Certificate to Bennett Houston. Bennett will be attending NC State University in the Fall.
