SAR Partners With AMVETS in Roanoke Rapids

Color Guard with AMVETS & AJROTC March of PatriotsAMVETS Post 101 and the Halifax Resolves Chapter came together to honor our veterans on Sunday November 8th.  The Freedom Freewill Baptist Church in Weldon, NC requested a ceremony honoring veterans during their Sunday morning service.  The Combined NC SAR Color Guard posted the colors.  AMVETS Post 101 conducted the ceremony as Compatriots Ken Wilson and Ron Jones stood vigil at the Missing Man table.  The Roanoke Rapids High School Army JROTC presented the folded U.S. flag honoring those missing in action.

Following the ceremony, The Halifax Resolves Chapter hosted a lunch at Ralph’s BBQ in Weldon for the color guard and were joined by members of the Sons of the Revolution.  Well fed, they departed to lead the March of Patriots Veterans Day Parade in Roanoke Rapids.  At the parades end, they presented the colors at Veterans Park for a ceremony honoring our veterans hosted by AMVETS Post 101.
