Silas McDowell members Tom Long and John Ruble attended a grave ceremony for Patriot William Moore in Candler, NC, where they placed a wreath at the grave site. We also visited the Moore homestead where several log homes still are standing. This event was sponsored by the Felix Walker and Western Waters chapters. After lunch and a short business meeting, the group drove to the VA hospital in Asheville (see story below). We participated in an awards ceremony for a Bataan Death March survivor and hero of WWII, Wayne Carringer of Robbinsville, who is 93 years old. See the photos below.
