All SAR, DAR, C.A.R. and other patriotic and lineage societies & chapters are invited to participate in the annual commemorative ceremony. To register your chapter or organization, click on the link below NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 to allow the National Park Service to prepare for the ceremony. LOCATION: Lenoir-Clingman (aka Poindexter) Family Cemetery, Shallowford Road, West Bend, NC
The Bethabara Chapter NC SAR will mark the graves of 3 Patriots at the Lenoir-Clingman Family Cemetery in conjunction with and immediately following the annual Battle of Shallow Ford Commemorative ceremony that will begin at 11am on October 8.
The 3 Patriots are: 1) Jane Pattillo Lanier Poindexter (1760-1826; and her two husbands; 2) Col. Robert Lanier (1746-1785); and 3) Capt. Francis Poindexter 1764-1803).
This small family cemetery is located directly across the road from the newly acquired 248 acre property what will some day soon become the Shallow Ford State Historic Site.
