On 27 May, Memorial Day, the Craven County Veterans Council (CCVC), hosted an event, where many Veteran and non-Veteran organizations met to place/display ceremonial wreaths at the New Bern National Cemetery.  The ceremony held at this cemetery, on this day, was similar to many other events/services being held at Cemeteries and Memorials around the world.  This wonderful event, demonstrated the community’s pride, in honoring those men and woman who have given the ultimate sacrifice, in the service of our country.  Jay DeLoach, Rear Admiral, Navy (Ret), and President of the NCSSAR New Bern Chapter, was the key note speaker for the ceremony.  In total, nine (9) members of the New Bern Chapter, plus their spouses, attended and participated in the event.  There were also members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, in attendance.
