“They Came Through Here” to Kings Mountain

January 19, 2017 / 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
23 N Central Ave, Belmont, NC 28012, USA

State and regional Revolutionary War author and storyteller Randell Jones will be speaking on the newly revealed history about the SC militia and Lincoln County militia getting to the Battle of Kings Mountain. The Battle of Kings Mountain and Mecklenburg chapters invite you to attend.

The title of the presentation is “They Came Through Here,” and the presentation reveals the new footprints in Mecklenburg County and the Catawba Valley.

Newly uncovered history now reveals that over a quarter of the men fighting at Kings Mountain, including the Lincoln County militia, marched up the Catawba River valley before joining up with the Overmountain men in eager pursuit of British Major Patrick Ferguson. Major William Chronicle led the heartiest of rangers from the South Fork. They marched as far as any other patriots to get to a battle that was in their own backyard.

The presentation is free and begins at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the Assembly Room of First Baptist Church in Belmont. Click for directions here.
