Flag Retirement/Naturalization Ceremony at Moore’s Creek

The Lower Cape Fear Chapter SAR, in collaboration with the 17 chapters of District VII of the DAR, conducted a formal flag retirement ceremony following the Naturalization Ceremony for 50 new citizens at the Moores Creek Battleground Liberty Hall.  NC SAR Sr Vice President Gary O. Green was the Master of Ceremonies.  Compatriots C. Gene Funderburk, Richard Knauss, Albert Meyer, John O. Thornhill and William W. Holt attended the ceremonies.  Prospective SAR member Ilario Pantano, assistant secretary for the North Carolina State Division of Veterans Affairs , was the guest speaker at the Naturaliztion Ceremony immediately preceding the flag retirement ceremony.
